Waimanalo Gulch Landfill Expansion

The Process

Public community scoping meetings were held in July and August 2006 to assist the City in identifying and addressing community concerns as part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. The EIS Preparation Notice will be published on November 23, 2006 and the 30-day comment period will end on December 26, 2006. The next document in the EIS process will be the Draft EIS (DEIS). The anticipated completion date for the DEIS is early 2007. DEIS Public Workshops will be held within 10 days of publication of the DEIS. Once these workshops are completed, a 45-day written comment period will begin prior to the EIS being finalized in mid-2007.

The Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice (and appendix) for the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill Expansion are published in the November 23, 2006, issue of the Environmental Notice, Office of Environmental Quality Control and linked above. The 30-day comment period will end on December 26, 2006. Comments should be sent to:
